Hair Edge Repair
Silk has many benefits for people who struggle with thin hairlines and damaged edges. The main cause of hair loss is friction which happens mostly during the night as you sleep. Cotton pillows, cotton scarfs, satin durags, etc. do not have a smooth enough material to avoid friction. Whereas, silk material has natural properties to help avoid the progression of thinning hair in men and women. For best results, Pure Silk Edge wraps should be worn during sleep or mild activity to keep the product in it’s natural state. No matter how you sleep or move, silk will provide your hair protection while allowing it to move naturally as you sleep.
Polyester, Satin HeadWraps and edge protectors does the opposite to repair your edges: currently, most women wear polyester and satin head scarves and bonnets to bed to keep our hair safe, tucked away and retain moisture overnight. If you wear a headscarf you know that it can sometimes be tied way too tight which can cause more damage than protection. Same goes for hair wraps and scarves made from synthetic materials. While you sleep, you move around frequently so know that wraps made from synthetic materials will frequently rub on the edges of your hair causing friction. To alleviate stress and friction to your edges while you sleep, you should only use 100% Pure Silk Edge Scarves and Silk Head Wraps. Silk does not generate friction to your hair while moving when you sleep.
Too much tension/pulling: This can often happen from poor protective styling with braids, twists, and weaves, however this can also happen (which I believe may be my case) from hair styles that are just too tight and are done too frequently causing tension and pulling on the hair follicles. And your edges are the most fragile parts of your hair so of course they are the first to suffer when your hair decides it has had enough. Be careful when pulling your hair into a bun or puff, braids or weave hairstyles because fake silk products: polyester, satin headbands are the major culprits in causing additional damage to hair edges. Only wear 100% Silk products to mitigate the risk of further edge damage and start repairing your edges today!
