How to Spot a Low Quality Durag or Scarf
Hair care experts emphasize the importance of healthy hair habits and this includes protecting your hair with a high-quality real silk scarf while sleeping or engaging in other activities. Typical durags are made of synthetic fabric advertised as satin, “silky-silk”, polyester, and other misleading names. Some manufacturers even falsely advertise that their products are made of real silk! Manufacturers invent creative buzz words: Silky Silk (100% Polyester); Satin Silk (100% Polyester); Silky Durag (100% Nylon), and Real Silky Silk (Polyester / Silk blend), just to name a few. This is the ultimate deception and consumers have been misled into believing they are getting a high-quality product. These poor-quality durags and scarves are terrible for your hair and will not enhance a wave pattern or hold hair in place. The end result of purchasing fake silk durags is the frustration of having to replace them when they fail – and they always fail!
